Nata a Marsiglia il 1° novembre 1982, Linda Rossi-Ferrari arriva in Svizzera a cinque anni. Cresce in una famiglia bohémien, dove l'arte è nell'aria fin da prima che sappia nominarla. Un'umiliazione scolastica la spinge a smettere di disegnare a tredici anni. Riprende i pennelli a ventitré, al Casinò di Lugano, dove lavora la notte come croupier. Born in Marseille on 1 November 1982, Linda Rossi-Ferrari arrived in Switzerland at age five. She grew up in a bohemian family where art was in the air long before she could name it. A humiliation at school led her to stop drawing at thirteen. She picked up the brushes again at twenty-three, while working nights as a croupier at the Casino di Lugano.
Il 13 gennaio 2008, negli spogliatoi del Casinò dopo il turno, il suo cuore si ferma. Quaranta minuti senza battito. Rianimazione, defibrillatore, adrenalina. Diagnosi: cardiopatia dilatativa post-parto — un caso su un milione. Da quel momento l'arte smette di essere un passatempo e diventa sopravvivenza. Fonda il Gruppo di Sostegno Pacemaker/ICD — oggi oltre 1.300 iscritti — per accompagnare chi convive con un dispositivo cardiaco impiantabile. Dipinge, espone, scrive. Esposizioni al Cardiocentro di Lugano, gallerie in Italia e in Germania. Il 28 febbraio 2025 entra in lista trapianti all'Inselspital di Berna. Novantuno giorni dopo — il 30 maggio 2025 — un cuore nuovo comincia a battere nel suo petto. On 13 January 2008, in the Casino locker room after her shift, her heart stopped. Forty minutes without a heartbeat. Resuscitation, defibrillator, adrenaline. Diagnosis: post-partum dilated cardiomyopathy — one in a million. From that moment art ceased to be a pastime and became survival. She founded the Pacemaker/ICD Support Group — now over 1,300 members — to accompany those living with an implantable cardiac device. She painted, exhibited, wrote. Exhibitions at the Cardiocentro di Lugano, galleries in Italy and Germany. On 28 February 2025 she entered the transplant list at Inselspital Bern. Ninety-one days later — 30 May 2025 — a new heart began to beat in her chest.

Il petto è cavo: la mano destra lo tiene spalancato, mentre la mano sinistra protesa offre al mondo il cuore mummificato. Non un corpo blindato, ma un corpo che ha imparato ad aprirsi.

The chest is hollow: the right hand holds it open, while the left hand reaches forward to offer the mummified heart to the world. Not an armoured body, but one that has learned to open itself.
Il cuore originario di Linda, espiantato il 30 maggio 2025. Mummificato da Alberto Toninelli, esperto tassidermista di Padova (Animal Factor Studio), che si è recato in Svizzera a più riprese per occuparsi personalmente del trattamento nello studio di Linda. Il processo di mummificazione conservativa è stato eseguito interamente in territorio svizzero; Linda ha personalmente rimosso il cuore dalla paraffina. Non un organo, ma un astro immobile: testimone silenzioso del battito che si è fermato affinché un altro potesse iniziare.
Linda's original heart, explanted on 30 May 2025. Mummified by Alberto Toninelli, expert taxidermist from Padua (Animal Factor Studio), who travelled to Switzerland on multiple occasions to personally oversee the treatment in Linda's studio. The conservative mummification process was carried out entirely on Swiss territory; Linda personally removed the heart from its paraffin. Not an organ, but a motionless star: silent witness to the heartbeat that stopped so that another could begin.

The work is destined for a collector who understands the value of art born from authentic, transformative, and historically documented experience. Quando una persona cara viene trasferita per un trapianto, tutta la famiglia si sposta con lei. Si lascia tutto — per settimane, a volte mesi. In una città straniera, spesso senza sapere dove dormire quella notte. When a loved one is transferred for a transplant, the whole family moves with them. Everything is left behind — for weeks, sometimes months. In a foreign city, often not knowing where to sleep that night.
Linda Rossi-Ferrari l'ha vissuto dall'altra parte — era lei il paziente. Ma ha visto cosa ha significato per chi le stava vicino. Quella solitudine non dovrebbe ricadere su chi è già in ginocchio. Linda Rossi-Ferrari experienced it from the other side — she was the patient. But she witnessed what it meant for those beside her. That loneliness should not fall on someone already on their knees.
La Fondazione è parte integrante del progetto artistico: l'intenzione è di destinare una quota del ricavato dalla vendita dell'opera «La Genesi di un Battito» alla sua costituzione legale. Non è ancora un impegno formale — è una visione concreta, che potrà diventare realtà qualora l'opera trovi il suo collezionista. The Foundation is an integral part of the artistic project: the intention is to allocate a share of the proceeds from the sale of «La Genesi di un Battito» to its legal establishment. It is not yet a formal commitment — it is a concrete vision, one that can become reality should the artwork find its collector.
